During the week of October 20-24, 2014, McWherterSenior Center
celebrated 25 years of service to the Seniors of the Memphis area.
Lucille McWherter Senior Center was opened in October 1989 in order to
serve the aging population of the East Memphis Community. The Center
was named for the mother of former Tennessee Governor Ned McWherter.
The Governor continued to support us until his death in April 2011.
Funded by the City of Memphis, the McWherter Center falls under the City
of Memphis Division of Parks and Neighborhoods within the City
Government. The City officials continue to remain very active and
supportive of the Center.
